Happy Monday morning,
Today is Cyber Monday, which essentially means that productivity drops by 30% in workplaces coast to coast, as we check our email (aka surf the net to find the best deals…)
Cyber Monday originated in the US in 2005 and made it’s “debut” in Canada in 2008. Those were the good old days when the Canadian dollar was at par with the US dollar. Retailers in the US took advantage of that reality to leverage the Cyber Monday strategy into the Canadian marketplace.
How is your consumer “hangover”?
One of my observations I have seen working with clients over the years is that those that are enjoying their careers more, tend to be less inclined to need other things in their lives to compensate.
“The more we create, the less we consume”
This quote is on one of my colleague’s desk in her office.
The word consume originates from the Latin consumers “to use up, eat, waste,”
The word create originates from the Latin creatus, past participle of creare “to make, bring forth, produce, procreate, beget, cause.”
When we are “creating:” in our lives, whether in our work or in the other areas there is a deep satisfaction. We are adding to the overall wellness of others & ourselves.
Create first and your consumption truly will be the good health fruit from your labour.
Along the road with you!
