Every leader needs a crystal ball to help them predict their future.
All kidding aside, as a leader it is necessary to pay attention to the changes in your sector. Looking at the way your organization needs to adapt allows it to be relevant to where things are certainly moving towards.
I was speaking with one of my clients this week about his organization. There are major disruptions occurring in the way his clients are managing money. One of the things I admire about him is his ability to not only lead with operational excellence in the present but also think and plan for how technological, cultural and geopolitical trends will impact his industry and company in the future.
It takes courage to be an influencer and voice of reason within your organization. Generally, it’s not that an organization doesn’t have the resources to change. Rather, it’s usually that leaders resist the reality of needing to change due to self-bias or interest.
“Without a vision, the people (or organization) perish.” This old proverb has never been more true.
