[FLR] The Most Valuable Business Commodity: Trust

April 15, 2016 | The “Trust” Edition

Happy Friday!

I enjoy travelling, particularly when you can get off the beaten path and really experience your surroundings. It’s great to do an all inclusive or hotel stay, but there are other ways to travel that offer different kinds of perspectives. Over the past few years I have entrusted my experience to Airbnb, in places like Kenmare, Ireland, and Brisbane, Australia, with enlightening results.

A Watson Wyatt study showed that if you were a high trust company you outperformed your competitors by 300%. Stephen Covey, in his book The Speed of Trust, states, “The first job of a leader – at work or at home – is to inspire trust. It’s to bring out the best in people by entrusting them with meaningful stewardships, and to create an environment in which high-trust interaction inspires creativity and possibility.”
