Work can be a source of personal confidence and give us an enormous sense of accomplishment. I believe that great teams—whether with clients, stakeholders, or co-workers—are the foundation on which to build that environment. I love being part of creating great teams.
I enjoy:
I love cross-country skiing adventures in the Laurentians, especially when we get a bit lost off the trail.
Favourite place I’ve travelled:

A book that made an impact on me:
I was given The Five Dysfunctions of a Team by Patrick Lencioni when I took on my first real leadership role. As a new leader with a team that was generally older and definitely more experienced than I was, it helped me understand how a culture of trust leads to mutual accountability, results, and a great place to work.
[LQ] Certified Managing Partner of CareerJoy
I’ve had the privilege of building a team of brilliant professionals focused on people and culture solutions in Canada. I am the co-creator of [LQ] Leadership Intelligence, a modern proprietary Canadian democratic framework for developing professionals to their full potential from individual contributors to the C’ level.
Seeing the team I work with and our impact on the workplace in Canada fills me with profound gratitude and immense pride.
Our entire firm revolves around Making Work Better. Growing up in an immigrant family, my parents taught me the value of work. Through their eyes, I saw the incredible opportunities this country affords. They embodied the idea of finding deep meaning and purpose in their careers without retiring early.
Their example instilled in me the concept of CareerJoy—how work can be intrinsically and extrinsically rewarding. Over the years, I’ve encountered numerous talented individuals who were simply in the wrong career, struggling as a result.
CareerJoy was born on the mission to create better workplaces in Canada. We help professionals find alignment in their roles, take a contemporary approach to leadership development, and guide organizations to becoming better employers by recognizing the humanity of their employees.
I’m dedicated to leading this charge because better work leads to better lives, organizations, communities, and, ultimately, a better Canada.

“Wild Swans: Three Daughters of China” by Jung Chang. The overarching themes of the fragility of humanity and our ability to be so easily swept along with the changing tides of history, impact how I see the world. Finally, it helps me to place myself inside history and through that see the importance of the individual and how our seemingly small, daily contributions to the world can really effect change.

I’ve also navigated real challenges as someone with a disability, which showed me firsthand how much culture and leadership shape whether people can actually thrive, not just cope. That contrast taught me something important: healthy, well-led workplaces aren’t just an ideal, they’re achievable, and the difference they make is enormous. Helping people and organizations build environments where strong leadership and genuine care for people aren’t at odds with performance is work that is important to me.

While I believe we work to live and not the other way around, the quality of work directly impacts the quality of life outside of work. We cannot put a bad work life on the shelf at the end of the day and forget about it. Our work supports our life. It needs to be just as good as it can possibly be so our life can be just as good (or great!) as it can be.
I enjoy

I truly believe that our work and workplaces play a huge role in our overall health. That’s why, for me, improving work means helping people find a balance that supports a positive and healthy life. I like to think that the career coaching I offer helps with that, but I also make a point to validate and normalize things that feel stressful or isolating. Every client I’ve worked with was sure they were so stuck they were beyond redemption, but guess what? None of them have been right yet!
I enjoy
I’m really into music, whether it’s singing in community choirs or strumming my guitar and piano solo or with friends. As a family, we are all about the great outdoors, no matter the season!
Favourite place I’ve travelled
Hands down, it’s Iceland. Picture this: standing on ice in the middle of February with boiling water bubbling up from the ground – now that’s an experience. And before you ask – Yes I went to Iceland in February. Believe it or not, it’s actually warmer than most parts of Canada at that time of year!
My first job was
I had a paper route when I was 11 years old.
A book that had an impact on me
One book I would highly recommend is “The Happiness Equation” by Neil Pasricha. It’s an easy read, packed with practical advice and actionable tips to boost happiness. Even if you’re not into all the “woo-woo” stuff, you’ll still find it incredibly helpful and down-to-earth.
[LQ] Certified Leadership & Transition Coach
A leader I had a lot of respect for once said, “If you don’t like your job, change. Life is too short.” I remember thinking, “That’s easy for you to say, you make millions per year!” But it stuck with me, and with time I have come to appreciate that no matter at what level of an organization, we can work to create circumstances that will help us flourish. Being ourselves at work, and being mindful of our needs and aware of our strengths, are critical to flourishing. This is what I strive to foster, and I find so much joy in helping others achieve those outcomes that, thus far, may have escaped them!
I enjoy
All things language… I read, and I write.
Favourite place I’ve travelled
Venice: Eating homemade pasta (garlic, tomatoes, basic) by the canal, watching gondolas pass, listening to the bells of a nearby church tolling. It is the definition of happiness…
My first job was
French Language Assistant at a high school; helping mostly newcomers to Canada to learn French
A book that had an impact on me
Jean Giraudoux’ “Électre”, a modern twist on classic Greek tragedy. Her search for truth as to who murdered her father, king of Argos, leads her to truly becoming herself, wreaking havoc on the royal palace, and also creating the opportunity for a fresh start. (Bonus: Contains a poignant reflection on the meaning of the life of hedgehogs.)
[LQ] Certified Leadership & Transition Coach
We spend so much of our lives at work, and when our environment is disconnected from our values, strengths, and vision, we feel it deeply. I believe work becomes better when we challenge our mindset, see ourselves as leaders, and take the first step toward the change we want to experience. My focus is on helping people understand their contribution, maximize their impact, and recognize when it is time to realign or move forward. I love supporting clients as they grow into their humanness, strengthen connection, and lead with authenticity and purpose.
I enjoy
Chasing my beautiful children, playing and coaching ringette, walking and chatting with friends, and building new entrepreneurial adventures in my life.

Italy by far. With my roots and family there, it feels like a magical home away from home. The food, the scenery, the lifestyle, and the people make it a place I would live and work from if I could.
My first job
Environmental Engineering Supervisor.
A book that had an impact on me
Several books have shaped me, including Everyone Communicates, Few Connect by John Maxwell, The Next Conversation by Jefferson Fisher, and The Myth of Normal by Dr. Gabor Maté. Each one deepened my understanding of connection, both internally and externally. After spending much of my life feeling separate from others, these books helped me grow into better humanness. We all have a deep need to belong and to have purpose, and I hope to help others on that journey.
[LQ] Certified Leadership & Transition Coach

Favourite place I’ve travelled
My love for Prince Edward Island runs deep. Every summer, without fail, I make the journey to the island for a family reunion. There’s a sense of tranquility that washes over me the moment I cross over the bridge from New Brunswick. The shades of green, the sea and the red sand calm me. The island represents love and connection because it’s where I come together with my loved ones to create precious memories.
My first job was
I had a summer job scooping ice cream.
A book that had an impact on me
For my work as a leadership coach, the most recent book I read that impacted me was “The Right Kind of Wrong: The Science of Failing Well” by Amy Edmondson. This book is focused on seeing failure as a necessary step on the path to innovation rather than something to be avoided.
For pleasure, “Still Alice” written by neuroscientist Lisa Genova, is a novel about a woman who receives the devastating diagnosis of early onset Alzheimer’s disease. The heartbreaking story describes the gradual and painful loss of her mind.

A book that had an impact on me
Most recently, the Vital Spark by Lisa Marchiano. It is a fascinating analysis of how women are socialized to suppress their true natures and uses Jungian psychology and links to fairy tales to illustrate how women can and need to tap into their ‘vital spark’.
[LQ] Certified Transition Coach
Making work better matters to me because it’s one of the few places in life where we get to feel proud of ourselves, fulfilled, and like we’re actually moving forward. When I enjoy what I’m doing, I don’t have to force motivation—it just comes. I want to show up, grow, and succeed because it feels good, not because I have to.
The way I make work better is by creating spaces that feel supportive, safe, and open for real growth. When people feel seen, respected, and comfortable being themselves, everything shifts—they don’t just show up, they actually engage, contribute, and thrive.
For me, it’s about building that kind of foundation. Because when the environment is right, work stops feeling like something you have to push through and starts feeling like something you can actually be proud of.
I enjoy
Socializing, dancing, singing and writing.
Favourite place I’ve travelled
I love an all inclusive in a sunny destination. I love the vibe, the music, the happiness and kicking back and chillin in the sunshine.
My first job was
Caregiver for elderly residents
A book that had an impact on me
The Glass Castle was the first time I really felt seen. It showed me that where I come from isn’t something to hide or be ashamed of—it’s actually part of what made me strong.
It also shifted something for me… like, the hard parts of life aren’t just things to “get through,” they’re where the real growth happens.
And honestly, it also made me realize it’s okay to have a bit of humor about the not-so-ideal parts of how you grew up. It doesn’t take away from what it was—it just means you’ve grown through it enough to not let it define you in a heavy way.
[LQ] Certified Leadership & Transition Coach
Career transitions and leadership challenges are complex, deeply personal, and often lonely. I know this from both sides. My own journey through voluntary and non-voluntary career pivots taught me that clarity rarely arrives on demand. It emerges when we feel safe enough to be honest, curious enough to ask the tough questions, and brave enough to trust our own intuition.
Making work better matters to me because I believe every person carries wisdom worth uncovering and sharing. By helping individuals bridge their lived experience with their professional goals, people can reconnect with their values, lean into their strengths, and move forward with agency and joy. My approach is always client-centred and grounded in one core belief: when people feel safe, seen, and empowered, remarkable things happen.
As a certified EQ-i 2.0 and EQ 360 practitioner, I also help individuals and teams develop the emotional intelligence that makes all of the above possible.
I enjoy
Exploring new places, being silly with my daughter, and soaking up quality time with family and friends. I love a good road trip, puzzling, reading, or getting out in nature (hiking, camping). My Sundays are non-negotiable: NFL and F1.
Favourite place I’ve travelled
My visit to Elephant Nature Park in Chiang Mai, Thailand. Spending time caring for blind, orphaned, and senior elephants — animals who had known hardship but were finally living in safety and dignity — was profoundly moving. The whole experience was grounded in respect, trust, and empathy, and honestly, it reinforced everything I believe about how we should show up in life.
My first job was
Small-town pharmacy at the cosmetics counter and the dispensary. Looking back, it was an early crash course in listening to people, understanding what they actually needed, and meeting them with care. Some things never change.
A book that had an impact on me
The Book of Hope: A Survival Guide for Trying Times by Jane Goodall and Douglas Abrams. This book reframed how I think about resilience and purpose. The argument that hope is a practice, not a feeling, and that it fuels action rather than replacing it, is deeply aligned with my own journey and outlook on life. It’s a book I return to.

A book that had an impact on me
“Untamed” by Glennon Doyle. There is a chapter in which she talks about tuning in to her inner knowing through meditation and accepting that the answers aren’t outside of her, but within her. I read the book 6 years ago during the pandemic. It has taken me all 6 years since reading it, but I am finally started to trust myself and tune in to my own knowing through my own daily meditation practice.

I believe strongly in the adage, “We rise by lifting others.” My work is fulfilling when I can bring who I am, what I have, and what I know in service of others. Hopefully my contribution to people lifts them in ways meaningful, fostering a sense of dignity, respect, love, belongingness, and hope.

Favourite place I’ve travelled
I’ve lived in ten countries in my life and every place offered ‘favourite spots.’ The richness and diversity of the European culture overall, and countries themselves, is marvellous. I loved my life chapters in Spain, The Netherlands, Italy, France, England, and Germany. New Zealand’s natural beauty is stunning and the people refreshingly down to earth. Being near the ocean in San Francisco was wonderful for four years, and the boundless space and great outdoors of my native Canada remains invigorating. Working in Saudi Arabia was a unique experience, particularly working with Haj pilgrims en route to Mecca. I’ve been very fortunate to have experienced a lot of interesting places, each one special in its own signature way.
My first job was
I was an entrepreneur from a young age. My first job and my own business started at 10 years old. I shovelled snow in the neighbourhood, going door to door to get business at $5 per driveway. Exhausting work … but deeply gratifying, to watch my earnings grow in my piggy bank!
A book that had an impact on me
Victor Frankl’s “Man’s Search for Meaning” came my way at a difficult time in my life. Frankl’s seminal 1946 book, which chronicles his experiences as a prisoner in a Nazi concentration camp in Auschwitz during World War II, describes the psychotherapeutic method he used to endure and survive the unspeakable torture and inhumane treatment that he and fellow prisoners experienced. His teachings have deeply influenced my coaching work, as I’ve witnessed clients transform pain into purpose and find meaning in their lives. His message about he power of choice in any situation continues to resonate with me: “Between stimulus and response there is a space. In that space is our power to choose our response. In our response lies our growth and our freedom.” Viktor E. Frankl

These places hold a special significance for me and my family, as we’ve built lifelong friendships there. Cuba brought us so much joy and a fresh outlook on life, leading to profound self-discovery. Plus, it was the perfect backdrop for training for three marathon walks I’ve accomplished in my lifetime.

A book that had an impact on me
“Parents in a Changing Climate” by Elizabeth Bechard. She addresses – What’s it like to wake up to the reality of climate change, while also trying to raise small children? How do we act on our values when we’re already exhausted from the day-to-day challenges of parenting and managing? She offers valuable insights on how to stay resilient, take meaningful action, and maintain hope in the face of uncertainty. It’s a must-read for anyone grappling with the intersection of parenting and climate change.

From the toddler learning to hold a fork properly to the manager innovating a new process that saves time, we naturally thrive to improve things around us. A book that had an impact on me
Siddhartha from Hermann Hesse. I read this in my early twenties, at a time when I had been dealing with depression and insomnia for months. After reading the first 3 chapters in bed, I finally found peace of mind and had a wonderful night of sleep. Following Siddhartha on his journey made me realize that there are many ways to perceive and live life, and that I’d have many new adventures of my own if I could just pick myself up and take a leap of faith with an open heart. A few weeks later began one of the happiest periods of my life. I warmly recommend this book to anyone who’s feeling stagnant in their professional or personal life, as we all do sometimes.

Making work better starts with the manager. I believe the most important person in someone’s life after their family is their boss at work. Leaders shape direction, motivation and the daily experiences that influence how people show up in every part of their lives. While there are always objectives to achieve, the real work of leadership is being a source of motivation and encouragement for others.

A book that had an impact on me
I loved reading “Atomic Habits” since it focuses on the power of small habits and the impact they have on our lives. What really resonated with me is what the author explains as the “compound effect” of small habits which is essentially little shifts we can make in our daily habits that can have a profound effect on our lives when practiced regularly over a period of time. The book not only focuses on tips and tricks for new habit formation but also explains the importance of creating a new identity which ultimately translates into new habits and new behaviour.
