[MMM] Scrooge’s Advice On a Better Future For Yourself…. | Monday Morning Motivator

Good Monday morning,

One of my all time favourite moves at this time of year is A Christmas Carol. This movie is based upon Charles Dickens book first published December 1843, and loosely upon the relationship that Charles had with his father. Although this film is widely regarded as the best film version of Charles Dickens’ story, it is the only one which omits Scrooge’s famous line: “If I could work my will, every idiot who goes about with ‘Merry Christmas’ on his lips should be boiled in his own pudding and buried with a stake of holly through his heart”.

The story still stands the test of time. The transformation of Ebenezer Scrooge, from which the term “scrooge” emerged, to a really fine person.

I was both reminded and encouraged by the truth about all of our lives, no matter what our choices may have been, it is never too late. We will not change the past, but we can be different today.

“Scrooge was better than his word. He did it all, and infinitely more; and to Tiny Tim, who did not die, he was a second father. He became as good a friend, as good a master, and as good a man, as the good old city knew, or any other good old city, town, or borough, in the good old world.

Some people laughed to see the alteration in him, but he let them laugh, and little heeded them; for he was wise enough to know that nothing ever happened on this globe, for good, at which some people did not have their fill of laughter in the outset; and knowing that such as these would be blind anyway, he thought it quite as well that they should wrinkle up their eyes in grins, as have the malady in less attractive forms.

His own heart laughed: and that was quite enough for him.”

On behalf of the CareerJoy team, we wish you the very best of this holiday season. May you have the gift of a laughing heart.

Along the road with you!

Alan
