There are times in our professional & personal lives where we know what we need to do, we just need to courage to do it.
One of our coaches on our team shared this one really simple but powerful idea. It is probably one of the most practical principles that I have heard in years.
You don’t need a lot of courage, you just need it for 10 seconds.
Asking for a more interesting project
Starting to look for a new role
Asking for a raise
Creating a new resume
Challenging an underperforming employee
Becoming a better leader
Applying for an MBA program
Finding a career that is a better fit for you
Asking for clarification on an important project
Bringing an challenging issue to your boss
Letting an employee go
Resigning from your company
Dealing with a personal change in your life
The etymology of the word courage is rooted from the Latin Cor. meaning heart or inner strength. The strength required to get to the “heart of the matter”…well that’s about your ability to use your courage, to get to the “heart” of the matter.
It really just takes 10 seconds of courage to get to truth that will set you free. I have seen this over & over again. As you start the conversation you find all of the fear & emotion starts to lift and you start to ask for what you really need, want & deserve.
I know it’s not easy to have hard conversations & there are consequences, We have all experienced both the clarification, relief & new beginnings that come from our ability to move forward in your lives.
You are just 10 seconds away.
Along the road with you!
