Hockey season has started. One of the things I most enjoy most about sports is how directly environment and human performance can be measured in terms of results. I grew up in Toronto and it’s been a very long time since the Toronto Maple Leafs have truly reached their potential. Why is that?
The issue is not economics since they are one of the richest teams both in terms of team value and revenue. The reason they have struggled for decades is the environment the organization has fostered. To be fair, they have changed leadership in the last couple of years and that gives me great hope.
Are you as a leader, fostering an environment that supports and calls out the best of your people? Like sports, your results will reflect whether this is happening or not.
